Creek running, shallow water < 1 foot over sand at test site, water running clear, no scum or bubbles, trash on banks (plastic, water bottles, cans)
Creek running shallow and low, slow current, maximum of about 1.5 feet at this site, no scum or bubbles on surface, clear. Trashy on banks from recent high water.
Creek lower by at least10 feet from backwater flood a week ago. Muddy with very slow current. No scum or bubbles on water. More trash on banks from flood of last week. Small alligator in creek and 3 river cooter turtles seen basking on logs downstream from Westbrook Road bridge.
Creek at the sampling location is high near top of banks consisting of Pearl River flood backwater from downstream confluence of Purple Creek and Pearl River. No current visible in Purple Creek, consisting of a pool with widely scattered scummy surfaces, muddy. Water about 10' higher than last week.
Creek has risen slightly about 1 foot since sampling prior week. Slow current indicating potential backwater from Pearl River downstream. Evidence of a higher creek flow since prior sampling week before due to trash bags and other debris hung in logs and banks. Water very muddy though not scum or bubble on surface.
Smells like sewage in air. Creek with flow and elevated about 1 foot from last week. Trashy. Slight rise probably from runoff from thunderstorms.
Creek about 1 foot deep at greatest depth at this sample site with slow current. No scum or bubbles on water surface as observed during previous monitoring period. Garbage and trash scattered on bank and hung on large woody debris, including trash bags, plastic bottles, other plastic, and a tire.
Water is higher than normal due to backwater flooding from confluence with Pearl River downstream. Lots of bubbles and foam on creek surface. Very little downstream current if at all due to backwater.
