This site is located as close to the headwaters of Perch Creek as we can viably get to. Test samples are taken just before the culvert that allows the creek to pass under Monck Road.

Caddisfly larva spotted, algae coating rocks. The telephone pole near the site has been replaced. Vegetation mowed down, assuming this to be part of the pole replacement process, riparian buffer left intact.
Minnow fry and larger minnows both sighted, water striders sighted, one green frog. A few ebony jewelwings and other damselflies darting around. Milkweed in bloom, several flower crab spiders seen hunting on it.
At least 10 cm of snow still present on banks at time of testing.
1 single caddisfly larva, current is flowing faster than normal.
Caddisfly larvae, riparian vegetation has gone to seed completely, but sumbergent vegetation is still green.
One small minnow sighted, several caddisfly larvae and many snails.
Red dragonfly, caddisfly larvae and leech sighted. Leaves on nearby trees have fallen.
Low flow. 3 leeches, snails, water striders. 1 Leopard frog, hot weather and quiet at site.
3 green frogs, 1 leopard frog, water strider sighted. Lots of algae on substrate near banks, slow-moving current.
