Lake on the Mountain

Adolphustown, Ontario, Canada

Lake on the Mountain rises sixty-two metres above Bay of Quinte (Lake Ontario) and is just over one square kilometre in size. It has no visible water source and is thirty-seven metres deep. It is a lake of legends and for hundreds of years was a sacred place to the Mohawk people who called it Onokenoga (Lake of the Gods).
