Ice is on except at feeder stream. Yesterday there was still a small section of open water in the center, but today it is totally frozen bar the one area that apparently never freezes.

The water level is quite a bit lower than average. We also noticed a buildup of algae near the stream at the shore as well as a layer of vegetation/pollen close to shore on the surface of the water.

This was my first observation, done with Will and Jenifer, an educator at Hillcrest HS. We observed McGlashan the day after a heavy rain. weather was cool and waters were relatively calm ,with a slight breeze from the south. We could hear a woodpecker on the north western side in the trees. This test session served as a great introduction to water quality testing for all tree of us involved!
