View all photosSunny and calm with no rainfall in past 24 hrs. Levels up over the retaining wall and dock not installed yet so tested under the bridge. Some Canada Geese on the river and schools of very tiny minnows evident swimming about.
We saw 2 swans, a water bug and heard a kingfisher. The sun was shining and there was a slight breeze. It had been raining for several days before today.
We take the water depth from the bridge at Black River because the dock where we usually take the water samples from is removed for part of the year.
It was sunny & breezy with cirrus clouds. There was a kingfisher, vulture & pair of ducks on the river.
One of the garbage cans from the Black River Cheese Co. was at the river's edge and I let the staff in the store know about it.
Overcast & windy with no rainfall in past 24 hours. Small beaver swimming up river under the bridge...smacked tail and scurried off when I came near the shore. Ducks & geese in the river...current strong with these winds. Unusual to see zebra shells along the shoreline here where we test regularly during the year and have never seen them here before.

Overcast and calm. About 10 mm rainfall in past 24 hours. Dock removed for winter so tested under the bridge instead. No wildlife visible or heard.
Cloudy and breezy with Canada geese flying overhead and 5 ducks flying over the river.
A hot, breezy day of sunshine.
Lots of lily pads on the north side of the Black River Bridge.
No rain in past 24 hours. Sunny and calm day. Took measurements from the dock along the shore. Lovely big green frog sitting on the rivers edge and some water snakes checking things out....large one and smaller young one. Frog stayed for quite a while until snakes got too close then moved along. Some fishermen in their boat on other side of the bridge. Usual green algae bloom on the river and pollen floating in patches too. Dragonflies busy catching bugs . When I returned a bit after lunch to do the secchi depth there was a group of 4 young people eating lunch on the dock so we had a good conversation about Water Rangers and directed them to the site to learn more about it.
The weather was cool, cloudy and windy with gusts. There has been recent rainfall.
