16 mile creek

Port Glascow (creek just down hill to right of marina on Grey line

Ontario, Canada

This tributary is feeding into Lake Erie at Port Glasow. Our test site was down the hill on Grey line to right of marina. There is a cement culvert. We tested on the lake side in the left front corner. You can access by going down bank beside culvert . The left culvert hole (from below) was dry and we took our sample from the rocks about 8 ft from culvert leading into water.

On water surface - natural debris
Evidence of water usage- discarded beer cans and coffee cups again
Algae-cynobacteria along stream bottom alittle and some rusty coloured algae
Water flow was steady
Water colour was clear,green bottom
Water level was low
No road salt test ,no winter maint rd

We had to do our testing today as we were not going to be available on test date and time
My brother and his step son from Taiwan volunteered to help today.
No ice on creek
Water was running, but still low
Water was clear
Water had no debris,no algae,no odour
There was signs of people as they left their garbage(coffee cup,gift card and contents of their ash tray dumped with all the cig butts,how thoughtful .I did clean it all up before leaving )
Temp was -1*C .with windchill -5*C
Sorry did not do road salt test here as its a no winter maint road (not sure if still applicable ?)
We did drive into Port Glascow marina there was no ice on lake
Sorry no Dissolved Oxygen test as error made with last ampoule, and then not having the new box put into our kit could not redo at this time

We watched a red tail hawk fly in and fly out.
The water was surging from snow melt and rain lately.
There was natural debris in water (grasses,log ect)
There was no immediate dischages
There was no evidence of people
There was no algae
The water was brown and cloudy
The water level was high
There was no odour
No winter maint road so no road salt testing

No snow ,no ice. We heard 1 crow, no other birds . Signs of a deer being tracks and scat.
The water was surging through culvert both sides but low.
Cool overcast day, more like temp at testsite#1 (testsite#2 was warmer than both others)
No road salt test here not a maintained road in winter.

No debris on water . Nor ice but our last 2 test sites had a skim of ice all across today
Water level was low
Water was flowing and clear
No odour
The only sign s of people this time was the garbage from fast food left on culvert and a piece of broken cement on top of culvert
We did not see or hear any birds or animals
It was rainy and cold 7.2*C
The wind was 12 WSW
The skies overcast

Water was surging over rocks and through drain ,rain last 2 days. Water level was average still. Tree s losing most leaves ,few pretty colours left. Could hear lots of birds. It was 9*C with a wind 14 KM/H ,N/E but relatively calm down in valley. Most vegetation dying off.

The Water Surface had Natural debris (lots leaves from Walnut tree s) ,Foam, Water was Slow, Water level average, Water colour was Brown, Water was Cloudy, Water had no Odour

Water was surging, still high but not as high as seen where banks grass s ect flattened out . We also noticed clam shells broken on shore edges in rocks possibly from heavy water flow.
There was natural debris flowing along in water (leaves ect) .
Alittle foam, No evidence of fishing or other activity.
No algae. Surging water which was still high.
The water colour was brown. The water clarity was cloudy.
No odours .
There were lots of bumble bee s on the yellow Cup Plant (Rosin Weeds) .
There was also a big Grey Dogwoods Plant with light coloured berries in full.
I picked up a discarded coffee cup in weeds and found 2 snails on it (1 inside and 1 outside)

Water high and surging. You could see where the creek breached to shore on left side about 10-15 ft. Lots of grass s and weeds laying down from overflow. Right side only breached 5-6 ft. No signs of fishing or people. Could hear birds. Could see little white butterflies (cabbage moths we call them at home in garden) lots of mosquito s.
We did testing here alittle early because site #2 was being utilized, we'll come back after this one.
Lately we had lots of rain fall .

When we got there 2 men were dip netting for minnow s off culvert in creek. They had maybe 10 minnows. They said since new culvert was put in not alot of minnow s here. There was natural debris on water (tree branch s ).There was alittle foam (spotty here and there) There was evidence of fishing. There was no algae. The water flow was steady. The water level was average (maybe alittle lower than last months sample .The water was brown in colour. The water clarity was cloudy(could see alittle ). There was no odour on water.
