Bagot Long Lake, North Basin

Bagot Long Lake

Ontario, Canada

Small narrow shallow (13 m max) tea-toned headwater lake aligned with the long axis more or less N-S and sheltered from wind by high shores and forest. Wind seldom gets purchase to create much wave action. Wind is generally confused - turbulent flow, many small cyclonic disturbances. I expect this is the reason that the epilimnion is shallow. Drainage is slow and at the north end through Virgin Creek. Springs are rumoured but unconfirmed. There are two basins separated by a relatively narrow, shallow channel. I have sampled both basin weekly calling them BLL-N and BLL-S.
