Sulphur Creek

Ancaster, Ontario, Canada

Sulphur Creek begins at Sulphur Springs not far from the test site. It is a slow moving creek that slows down dramatically between spring run off and mid summer (now!). It has a clear sulphur odour most times of the year. It runs toward Cootes Paradise which is a mixed area of wetland and a shallow body of water adjacent to Burlington Bay (Hamilton Harbour). It is connected to Lake Ontario via a shipping canal at its eastern end.

The water level today was quite low. The Hamilton Conservation Authority hosts school and summer programs in the Dundas Valley and the spot at which today's test was done is frequently used by children doing stream studies. It is quite safe.
