Pt. Petre Provincial Wildlife Area

Lake Ontario at Soup Harbour

Ontario, Canada

Walk or drive down the first dirt road to the lake at the sign for Pt. Petre. At the rocky beach shoreline Lake Ontario can be accessed for testing. Just tested along the shore using our golf ball retriever to reach out into the water a short distance. Depending on wind conditions this area can be subject to undertow so not advisable to go out very far into the lake at times like that. Today was moderately windy with some small whitecaps on the lake further out. Lake is much higher now than it will be in summertime.

Sunny, hot & humid with little wind and calm waters. Thunderclouds forming over the lake, maybe bringing rain to some lucky areas but not us. Still experiencing drought conditions in PEC. Lots of seagulls and ducks in the bay here.

Sunny and calm day with no rain in past 24 hours, or for weeks actually. Seagulls and canada geese around and songbirds too. Plenty of zebra mussel shells along the rocks and the waterline is very far out now for so early in the year. Could this be the year waterfront property owners are complaining about having to add lengths to their docks to reach water, after recent years being flooded out?

No rain in past 24 hours. Today is sunny and clear and unusually warm for November, even for here in The County. Bit of a chop on the lake and the shoreline is very far out compared to usual, as it seems they’ve managed the lake levels all this year to avoid flooding of properties as happened some other years. No birds or critters around. Fire pit full of trash and cans, bottles, etc so took what I could manage to get on my bike to bring home and recycle & dispose.

Partly cloudy with sunny breaks and calm winds. No rainfall in past 24 hours. Lots of Canada Geese and ducks along the shoreline and in the water. Lake freighter passing by in the distance in the shipping channel. Area showing less trash than usual apart from an old tire sitting by the fire pit and some in the bush along the trails.

Sunny with a few clouds in the sky and very windy. No rain in past 24 hours. Few folks on the beach here with their dogs and they watched me do my testing so discussed it with them before I left and told them where they could go online to learn more about this.

Has been super dry for the past few weeks with absolutely no rainfall. Very hot and humid day. Lots of people flocking to the beach area to cool off. Some seagull, butterflies and mosquitoes around.

No rain in past 24 hours. Some clouds of small black bugs here and there but otherwise no wildlife around. Obvious signs of human visitors abound in the form of garbage everywhere......some people are worse than animals in how they treat our shared environment!
