On September 25th there was a bad wind storm in the area around Nakusp. At the Box Lake Campsite area and the road in, there was about fifteen trees that blew down. There was 5 or 6 right in the lower campsite area. More that half the trees blown over had root balls attached. These were large mature that blew over. I have lived on Box Mtn for 41 years and in January 2021, there was also a bad wind storm in the Nakusp area. We lost about 50 trees on our property, about 2/3s with root balls. These were also large matures trees. The wind actually twisted/ripped a large mature fir tree off just above the trunk. Box Mountain is a watershed, so there are some big trees. Nakusp is not normally a windy place, wind storms happen but they are rare. In the past five years or so, we have noticed more winds and the winds seem to swirl around rather than blow through.

Park Hosts at campground, they are great caretakers of the lake. It is a BC Forest Recreation Site, not a government site.

quite a few mostly white with a little black birds out on lake, too far away to identify

The lake was frozen. There was bit of water showing at the edge of the dock near the shore. I did my testing there. Being lake is frozen no depth. There was a person out ice fishig about 150 ft from shore. They said they caught 2 small rainbow and 4 small brookies.

There is very little snow. Surprised we could drive in, a skiff of snow on the road.
The water depth was taken about 5 ft from the end of the dock, the front of the dock is under the snowy soft ice. there was snowy ice on the lake with a few open areas and a few spots around the shore did not have ice. There were two golden eye birds and 2 other gray birds.
