Notes
There was trash floating off the dock in the river, and there were decomposing fish floating in the water and lying on the land. They looked discarded from previous fishers. There were butterflies feeding off the dead fish. The water smelled like dead fish too.
People were out fishing and boating. There was a variety of insects other than the butterflies. There were a few dragonflies and a handful of wasps.
One wasp kept trying to explore the trunk of my car for a place to nest, so my testing was interspersed with finding ways to frighten the wasp off without getting stung and a bit of jogging away from the car every time it swooped in my direction. The wasp that gave me the most exercise was some sort of thin waisted paper wasp, and there was also a small green wasp that I didn’t get a good look at before it flew away.
