Spring has Sprung!! nature walker on the wharf exclaimed to her friend "LOOK there's some SWALLOWS!!"
.... about a dozen were soaring & diving over and around the lake .... too fast for a photo-op!
A chilling breeze came over the lake at the time.
2 trumpeter swans appear to be taking residency (last 2 weeks) along with full slate of mallards & canada geese, merganser, cormorant, coots etc. plus 2 bald eagles chasing down a seagull in flight!
bald eagle (sitting in fir tree) and red-tailed hawk (soaring in the area) squawked at each other.
new rains have cleared much of the duckweed

an explosion of this invasive species entered Swan Lake this year causing anxious times for the sanctuary.
Philosophy of watching nature take its course ... saw river otter, great blue heron & mink leading the slate of predators to reduce the population into a more comforting number .... at least until next season!
