North Branch of the Chicago River
Morton Grove, Illinois, United States
Turn north off Dempster and into Linne Woods, part of the Forest Preserve of Cook County. Park at Picnic Shelter #2, and walk to the the North Branch Bike Path and you should see an earthen stairway descending to the river. Precede down the stairs and out to the place wither the unpaved trail bends, go a couple feet up river away from the drainage culvert.
The river should be flowing and wide, unless under drought conditions. There shouldn't be much current, unless under flood conditions. It is likely 1 -2 feet deep but 20 -30 feet wide.
