View all photosPartly cloudy today with no rain in past 24 hours. Pair of commercial fishermen coming into dock from setting their nets as I was testing so had a nice chat with them about the lake conditions and our water testing. Directed them to the site for more information. They mentioned when I asked what changes they’ve noticed on the lake over the past few years : more blue/green algae blooms, Asian carp and some other invasive fish species like Tench and Zander which they report to the Ministry of Fisheries when they find them in their nets. Good indicators of lake health though is their spring catch of yellow perch being very good and they’re a fish that prefers clean waters so this is a good sign.
Sunny with some wispy clouds and quite windy. A few MM rain in past 24 hours. Look fishing on the lake and some fishermen and boaters too from the look of the parking lot. No docks in place yet so measured from the shoreline instead… only .2 deep so won’t enter that data and mess up the averages. Lots of midges/lake bugs in clouds as I biked here.
Mostly sunny calm day with just a few clouds…..bit of wave action. No wildlife. Just before getting here we saw the new all-electric ferry pass by on it’s way to Kingston where it will be operating soon…..21st century progress!
Partly cloudy and windy with no rain in past 24 hours. No birds around at the moment. Spoke for a while with a man who was there swimming and was very keen on what we were doing. Gave him a WR card to visit the website and he was very appreciative of this sort of citizen science being done in so many places.
Mostly sunny, hot and humid with some storm clouds building up over the lake…we could sure use some rain as haven’t had any for a week or so now. Some horseflies being a nuisance, otherwise not much life stirring in this heat, apart from a Mom & child swinging on the park swing , a sailboat on the lake and a crazy Water Rangers cyclist from Milford :)
Sunny, calm day with a few clouds forming. No rain in past 24 hours. Some seagulls and a loon on the water and songbirds heard but not seen. One boater had launched earlier from here. Water very clear.
Bit of rain over past 24 hours…about 2 MM. Overcast and hazy skies today. Some hawks flying around, loons in the water and ducks too. Some Lake Bugs around and swallows are happy with that. Few songbirds too. Zebra Mussel shells along the shoreline. Summer dock is in now so the depth measurements will be more normal than that first one done this spring.
Sunny day with some hazy sky developing. Calm water. No rain in past 24 hours. Summer dock not set up yet so tested off shore...depth reading will not reflect usual readings off end of dock. Swans, geese, ducks and seagulls out on the water and robins & songbirds in the trees here at the park.
Sunny and calm day with a few wispy clouds in the sky. No rain in past 24 hours. No wildlife around, not even seagulls, ducks of geese in this location today, but lots on the lake in other areas we walked to. A few small boats out fishing.
Sunny day with little wind and very calm water. No rain in past 24 hours. Flocks of Canada Geese, swans and ducks seen on the water. Seagulls flying around. Weeds seen under the water near the dock but water very clear.
