Pembroke, Ontario, Canada

This is the mouth of the river downstream of the bridges in Pembroke. There is a good current, and multiple sandbars extend out into the river.

Some garbage along shore. A painted turtle was basking on a log. A snail in a large shell (5 cm) was at in the shallow water at the shore. Many birds present: Hooded Mergansers, Gulls, Canada Geese, Sandpipers. The sandy stretches attract a variety of birds. There were some birdwatchers there that came expressly for this particular site.
Water is brown. There are no odours. There is some sediment suspended in the water. Shoreline is sloped less than 30 degrees. Bank vegetation is shrubs-saplings. The riparian buffer is deciduous trees.
There is a de-construction project occuring just upstream, where they are removing the old log dam across the river.
