Lake Ontario - Long Point
Ontario, Canada
Near the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory https://peptbo.ca/
Across a small bay light house can be seen.
It was sunny. Water was a bit choppy that morning.
In the grassy between the road and the water there were hundreds of small frogs.
A few gull in the air.
Water sample taken by reaching out over the rocky bottom.

View all photosSunny calm day with a few thin clouds in the sky and less than 1 MM rain in past 24 hrs. Some birds in the trees. Haven’t tested here for a while because most times these ledges have water on them so can’t get out easily to the test site where the ledge drops into the lake. This year has been so dry and the lake is out so low that it’s accessible again.
Didn’t test here today as the lake is over the edge of the limestone ledges and too difficult to access. Set up a new observation spot in the Harbour instead as will be much easier to test there on regular basis.
Sunny , humid day with fairly stiff winds. Less than 1 MM rain in past 24 hours. Water was still up over the limestone ledges but not as close to shore as last month so was able to get out to get a proper depth reading from the edge where it drops off. Some seagulls out over the water, cluster flies and a lot of dragonflies swarming around above the nearby roadway into here.
Partly cloudy and quite windy with some choppiness on the lake. About 17 MM rain in past 24 hours. Biggest change from last visit and most before, is the water level is about 8M closer to the shore now, so where we normally test at the end of the limestone ledges where it drops off deeper, is now under .1M of lake water. Met a lovely healthy looking deer on the road just as I was ending my 1 Hr bike ride to get here….what a treat! Some seagulls and hawks in the sky, mosquitoes and flies around too.
Partly cloudy and very windy today. No rainfall in past 24 hours. No visible signs of birds but could hear some songbirds in the woods.
Sunny and moderately windy. No rainfall in past 24 hours. Some chop on the lake. Few seagulls around , some songbirds and bugs.
Sunny calm day with no rainfall in past 24 hours....or for over a week now. Few Canada Geese in the water and songbirds heard in the trees. Gentle waves lapping the edges of the limestone.
Sunny clear skies with moderate winds and calm water on the lake here. No rain in past 24 hours. No wildlife around, just some folks strolling along the limestone ledge shoreline and some others at the bird observatory. Some green slime on the rocks right near the drop off point so have to be careful not to slip there.
