Ottawa River

This is a little bay off the river, where there is a resurgence outflowing from underground, which is part of the Gervais Caves (sinkhole) system. There is a strong current swirling around in the bay, and out into the river.

Observations made during a Celebrate Our Rivers group paddle. Species identified include the Hickory Nut Mussel (a rare mussel), a Northern Map turtle, Northern Waterthrush, and Chickadees. Dragonflies were observed emerging from the Nyad nymph stage.
