Last Mountain Lake Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan, Canada
Samples taken off the end of boat dock near the North side of public swimming area at Lasal Bay. Secchi reading taken from a paddle boat in deeper water about 30 meters off the end of the boat dock, using a buoy as a reference marker for the location The beach shore line is orientated nearly north and south. To the east the elevation of the shore area rises gradually by about 3 meters then the topography is very flat and level for miles eastward to the north or the south consisting mostly of grain land fields or pasture. To the west the lake is more than 1.5km wide and exposed to the open water from the north for many miles. There is some protection to the south from the shore line in the bay extending to the west just south of the water sampling location.

Large area of floating ice ~ 200 m from shore. sample taken in very shallow water near beach. water was considerably warmer than expected. near the beach
Secchi Depth varies considerably from point to point in the area. water was relatively clear in the morning. at 8;00 secchi test was 2.8 m in this test location. by later in the afternoon the secchi test was 1.5m in the same location. There is a lot of large aquatic plats in the ares. the vegetation is quite dense and extends from the lake bottom to the surface. The surface has floating plant leaves and stems extending to the lake bottom and covering a considerable area which would be hundreds of square meters of the surface. There is a bright sun, suspect there may be considerable photosynthesis occurring in the area.
