Small pond at McCauley Mountain Conservation Park ...aka Birdhouse City. Water from streams in surrounding area here east of the town of Picton , flow into this pond. Easy access off the main road to parking area where pond is situated below.

View all photosSunny with some cloud cover rolling in...not very windy . No rain in past 24 hours. A nice family with 2 young children were out walking the trails here and were interested in what I was doing so they got involved in helping me and earned their sticker badges :) They discovered a water beetle and we got to watch a young muskrat swimming around the pond as a bonus for us all. Some ducks and songbirds around too. Under the surface of the water appears to be some green egg clusters I think...possibly frogs eggs?

Very windy and overcast today. About 6 Mm rain in past 24 hours. Quite a lot of green pond scum and algae bloom under and on top of the pond.
Cloudy and gusty winds with thunder heard nearby now. Dragonflies and water bugs seen over the pond which had some weeds visible under the surface.
