Was it a dog? Or a coyote? Howling coming from bushes on other (east) side of creek. Three long howls. Looked and looked but could not see. Coyotes have been in the Humber Bay East area in previous years so possible. Will keep an eye out. Also noted water level extremely low at the mouth of Mimico Creek (and Lake Ontario). What’s up with the conductivity? Super high?!?

Ducks. Two swans. Cormorants on a log in the distance. Floating vegetation at boat launch. Water level down quite a bit compared to height of summer, but still not low. Cannot see bottom of creek (muddy water).

Still high water level, but lower than July. Ducks, swans, seagulls. Rain coming.

High water level at mouth of Mimico Creek. Geese on guard. One legged pose. Ducks in background. Two swans gliding by.

Usual spot for picnic table by boat launch engulfed in water. Highest I’ve seen. Line of flotsam suggests high wave action. One swan. One dog walker. Curious people driving by.

Kingfisher flew by above the water. Cormorant and ducks in the water.

Walking east along Lake Ontario's waterfront toward Mimico Creek from my home, I came across a sign that said 'Toronto Cycling Music Festival' today at Humber Bay West Park. Had no idea. Naturally I took a detour to see what was up. Fun surprise on the waterfront. Listened to good band playing, ran into a friend, signed up to support campaign to improve bike infrastucture in Toronto. Great event! Headed back toward the creek that hugs the park, noticing again how low the water is these days. So low that an egret was fishing IN the mouth of the creek, when normally they just hang out in the shallower wetlands on the side. Also spotted a heron hunched on a log. Swan family, too. Windy, very windy. Also cold. Today for the walk over, I had to put on a toque. That signifies the first day of fall in my mind. It's only Sept 9. Too early! :)
