View all photosIce Off day. There was a fairly thick layer this past winter. Geese have been waiting for it to clear for over a week.
Location of observation is at south edge of the pond, because I was not able to access the pond with a canoe. The water level is very low, and a ridge of grasses exists between the marshy shore and the main pond. I walked along the edge grasses until I got to an open area. There are weeds/algae growing and floating at the surface. The water seems clear, but can't get a Secchi reading due to the weeds. There is a network of beaver water trails and landing pads throughout the grassy area (pond grass that grows in tall and in tufts with water between).
Extemely windy today, but sunny and warm after a few cold rainy days. The water level is increased, and the wind is stirring things up.
Rain the night before, now sunny with wind and clouds increasing. Many small frogs and water lilies. The beavers have been very active here clearing small trees at the shoreline.
Sunny day, slight breeze.
Overcast conditions, just about to rain. Very windy.
