Black Bass Bay

Mississippi Lake

Ontario, Canada

On a point facing north. Quite a bit of boat traffic on weekends fairly close to shore. Very often churned up by wind and waves so minimal weed growth compared to most of the shoreline close by.

after a couple of brief but heavy downpours over the week, the water is MUCH clearer than it was. It has returned to 'normal' clarity. I did not get an accurate secchi depth but it is very likely around 3m. Water is much less alkaline and getting colder quickly as hours of sunlight decrease.

water continues to be very turbid. The green partiulate is now mostly beige. The secchi depth is now approx 1.8m where the disc disappears. Despite last Wednesdays rain, the water level has decreased.

increasing turbidity. Disc barely visible at 1m. Green particulates very evident. (quite gross actually)

Yesterday observed 2 -3 dozen cormorants swinging in a line together. I have never seen this before.

water seems more turbid than usual. Perhaps caused by a multitude of watercraft this weekend. I have no way of quantifying this short of doing an old school candle behind a test tube thing

Algal blooms starting to form around the weeds and milfoil a few hundred meters west of here and weeds have grown considerably this past week with the warm weather.
