water coming out of hillside, new testing location

hillside

Saskatchewan, Canada

New location. Water flows out of the hillside and runs down to the stream. It flows year around and the ground is very swampy where it comes out and is difficult to walk in without getting stuck. The water is cold and clear. In the winter a big "glacier" builds up from the water running below the ice to the stream which runs all year long under the ice. I cleared away some of the silt and debris to deepen the shallow rivulet so that I could sample the water. I did the metered readings directly from the water, not a sample cup. I couldn't really fill the turbidity tube as the water is less than 2 cm deep.

I will take a small shovel and deepen the sampling hole so that it's easier to get samples next time. I might try going a bit up hill closer to where the water comes out (it may be too marshy to safely get there, though.)
