View all photosThe ammonia levels were tested using both a low range Hanna checker and a high range Hanna checker recently given to us by Thames 21. The high range Hanna checker showed a reading of 0.43, so both had a very similar reading. This reading for ammonia was by far the lowest we have ever had and was considered Very Good on the instruction notes, which felt very special to us.
We also tested the phosphates using both a low range and high range Hanna checker, also recently given to us by Thames 21. However we didn't get a reading from the high range Hanna checker but a 00 on the screen, so something had gone awry, and there wasn't time to do it again. Better luck next time.
The best results for some time, particularly the phosphates
The readings for ammonia showed a great improvement as previous readings for several months had been at 3.00 flashing, ie the highest for the Hanna checkers I use.
The readings for phosphates also showed an improvement as the 2.50 reading was not flashing, as it had been for several months.
The water level in the Moselle Brook in Tottenham Cemetery in the stretch where we test is not deep. It ranges from a 3-15 cms.
In contrast to the previous water monitoring in August, the Moselle Brook showed no signs of white deposits from sewage fungus and the water and stream bed was clear with good clarity. However the readings were still flashing, indicating the true amounts ppm were above 2.50 and 3.00.
The readings were both flashing, ie values were higher than 3.00 and 2.50. There was a great deal of sewage fungus evident showing as white deposits. The sewage fungus had not been visible in the previous 4 visits to this site, so there was a marked deterioration in the appearance of the Brook.
The ammonia reading display was 3.00, flashing, ie greater than 3.00
The phosphate reading display was 2.50 flashing, ie greater than 2.50
The Hanna checkers were both flashing . So the true reading was Phosphate 2.50 flashing and Ammonia - 3.00 flashing.
The readings for Ammonia were 3.00 flashing and for Phosphate was 2.50 flashing.
