The water was much lower than last time, reaching the water from the bank was tricky. The microwave in the water and a window from from a camper trailer became visible in the water as a result of the low level. There was no wildlife to speak of during this visit, likely due to the high winds and difficult weather.
As I was departing the site, I noticed fishing lures, bobbers and line strung up on the power line above the water beside the bridge. They were quite sun faded, indicating that they had been there a while. Eventually they will likely fall into the water due to sun rot of the fishing line. 3 ducks were seen in the river, I could not make an ID. The water level was visibly lower than last week, which was surprising given the recent rain. There is not a lot of aquatic vegetation in the area. In the shoreline area, tree species such as red maple, white spruce, speckled alder and white pine were noted.
For the visibility measured by the secchi disk, the depth of visibility would not be any deeper if the water was. The water was noticeably murkier than the previous test completed Oct 31. As stated before, this is likely due to the recent rainfall. There was no health concerns with the site. At the site, 2 common mergansers (I believe) were seen swimming up the river. The water was murkier than the previous report, likely due to the rain stirring up the water and pushing in debris from the bank. Mustelidae tracks were seen at the site. No water uses seen in immediate area.
The water was cloudy but it was raining very hard which would disrupt the water, and could increase conductivity. The water was still , but this could change of the rainfall received today. We tried to keep the rain away from reaching the tests but the rain could have affected the conductivity and test strips IF they did get wet from the rain. The road is closed on both ends, and is not allowing any cars to be on the bridge. There is two closure signs. The rocks on the path to the sample location are very slippery when wet.
Nothing unusual except a Microwave dumped in the water.
Watch your steps while going down to reach the location. The overgrown vegetation is dying. Lots of natural debris on the water's surface.
I saw several fish jumping, as well as some minnows in the shallows under the bridge. Very slow. Could not tell which way the water was flowing.
Rocky. Just a few leaves on the surface
The water is not moving at all.
The colour of the leaves is changing. Observed a lot of aquatic vegetation. Need to wear boots to enter in the water. The odor of kerosene is from the bridge not from the water. Observed some fishing hooks and fishing lines near the area.
