Lots of overgrown vegetation on the steep slope with uneven terrain. Lots of ants on the ground.
There was a foul odour in the are.
Lots of fish were observed near the culvert. Snails were at the location. It was a layer of dandelion seeds on the water surface.
Accessibility has lots of vegetation and it's steep walking down towards creek.
A ball is stuck at culvert.
Steep slope with high vegetation to access the monitoring location.
Sand build up near the culvert. Fire pit on a bank.
Uneven terrain under grass, watch your footing.
There is a steep slope to access to the location, and it is slippery, so be careful. The water level is really high so do not stand on the edge to grab water sample.
Vegetation is getting back to life. Both banks are covered with bare grass. There is construction work is happening, priorly it was only upstream, but this time it was at the downstream too, and it is only at left bank.
The water level was really high. There was a construction going on upstream of the creek. Controlled structure at the channel is not letting water to enter in Bennett Creek, but it is directly flowing into the Bennett - West Davignon Channel which flows near to the Sault Ste. Marie West End Wastewater Treatment Plant. The location is still covered in the snow, but the left bank of the channel has a clear area to monitor safely. To access this location in winter, park vehicle near to the French Immersion school at the end of Brookfield Ave. The location has a steep slope, so be careful. Both banks are covered with bare vegetation and snow. Wear gloves to monitor at this location. Downstream of this location, at Bennett Creek, there is another water outflow, maybe it is the outflow of a roadside ditch.
The monitoring location is accessible, but the entire area is covered in snow, so be careful. Monitor from the left bank, upstream from a culvert. Left bank has a steep slope covered in snow, but some patches of ground and vegetation are visible, making a safe place to monitor. There is a construction going near the upstream closer to the school. The water level is higher than usual. Access location from Brookfield Ave @ Second Line W in winter.
Lots of overgrown vegetation. Old path is inaccessible due to high water level. Walk down from right side of the culvert on the cliff to access the same spot. Do not recommend to go solo for monitoring at this location when water level is higher. Water clarity is opaque due to higher water flow and higher water level. Lots of foam on the water surface.
Beware of mosquitos and wildlife. The weather is windy now. There is no proper way to reach the location, and have to cross overgrown vegetation.
