Sampling site (Lat/Long: 42.043941, -88.353552) is on downstream side of culvert crossing near eastern border of Elgin Township Wetland preserve. Access from NE section of Orchard Lane by walking approximately 220 feet to creek via path.

Creek water level low, still some flow, some ice on edges; generally above average temperatures in November, near average in first week of December, then above average over the four days prior to sampling

Precipitation from 4/26-4/28/2024 = 0.58 inches. Total April precipitation = 3.37 inches. Variable spring weather with daytime highs ranging from 50s-80s and nighttime lows from 30s-60s Fahrenheit. (Note: All weather data from nearby personal weather station KILELGIN122.) Several giant water striders present in pool on downstream side of the bridge culvert.

Water level somewhat elevated due to recent rains; water turbid, light brown in color. No overland runoff. Less than 1 inch of snow fell four days ago but melted within two days.
