This quantab measurement seems a little odd to me, a little high. It's higher than the last measurement I took, and yet we haven't had any snow since then that would have added brine or salting the roads and sidewalks
Water is running the width of the creek, but ice is still in large chunks underneath the surface.
They brined the roads at least 3 times in the past week. Yesterday they didn't plow the street until yesterday morning, and it didn't look like it had been salted. After I shoveled my driveway I didn't bother salting at all, and the sun and wind evaporated most of the moisture still on the pavement. Hardly anyone salted their sidewalks near me (the creek is 2 blocks away from my house)
There are two quantab results in the picture for checking standardization of the tabs themselves.
This is the second observation on the same day, in order to make sure the test strips are calibrated
This is the first of two observations on the same day to make sure that the test strips calibrate reliably
The water level is lower than I'd expect at this time of the year.
My Quantab unit measurement was actually 9.0 units. The PPM conversion doesn't go that high up on the card. I looked online and the company said to record it as >628ppm. There were chunks of submerged slushy ice under the top current of water, and two pairs of mallards. I felt like the ducks must have been swimming in brine.
