Forked Creek
Manhattan, Illinois, United States
3/4 of a mile downstream of the intersection of Route 45 and Forked Creek. A tributary of the Kankakee River. The creek was straightened in the 1940s for farming purposes. The creek banks are about 8 feet tall, and the water on average is a foot deep. Water floods up to 4 feet above the banks yearly. The creek may stop flowing during droughts, but the water has never fully evaporated.
