Played with Leia at our regular spot. Lots of people enjoying this beautiful day on the Ottawa River. A family was fishing off the dock for bass, pickerel and pike. Collected benthic samples from 2 regularly monitored areas. Dragonfly larvae, Caddisfly larvae, Scuds and Water Mites consistently noted in this area.

Collected 2 caddis fly cases and a scud that was hiding out inside one of the empty cases!

Boat launch is now open for the season
Warm day. Overcast. Light wind.
Good to see the river is dropping. A lot of debris and flotsam from flooding is visible along the riverbank.

The river is very high. The boat launch is underwater and the current is very swift. A lot of debris floating along the riverbank.
A pile of sand has been been placed in the parking lot of the boat launch which appears to contain road salt. It is leaching directly into the river. A sample has been collected.
