Mining Rocks Earth Science Program

This group will be a space for grade 9-12 students in northern Saskatchewan participating in Mining Matters' Mining Rocks Earth Science Program. As part of a 4 day workshops, students will collect water sample data from the nearby lake. As a researcher, I am studying how students engage with participatory science activities versus dialogue and deficit activities. To make this water sampling activity completely participatory, I wanted to ensure the students knew their data was being included in a database where others can access it.

Water testing protocol

Students will be using Mining Matters' backpack lab to test for water pH, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, TDS, and more.
