About
City has 1400 km of creeks many of which are habitat for salmon and trout. City staff and SHaRP members are actively researching which creeks provide the best habitat for fish and how to improve sites to support healthy fish habitat. This team is missing key data through the availability of regular water samples in local creeks that help complete the story if the water flowing in these creeks are suitable to sustain fish eggs over the winter, or is cool and oxygenated enough over the summer.
From now until the end of the school year, schools will use Water Rangers kits to collect data that helps the City of Surrey monitor key habitats used by fish species. Together we can collect enough data to complete the picture that will keep salmon and trout swimming in local creeks for generations to come!
