Added note for 6 July 2018 observation:
Jelly blob on the tree branch taken out of the water is a Bryozoan Pectinatella magnifica...tiny colonial animals that can form jelly-like masses, which are often found attached to sticks or docks. Bryozoan colonies can be as much as a foot in diameter. Freshwater bryozoans improve water quality. For more info check
