Bridge over Black Creek on Old Milford Rd

Section of Black Creek

Ontario, Canada

This time of year with spring run off the water is high and flowing fairly fast under the bridge. Test taken on east side of bridge along southern edge. Very marshy area all along this creek, which gets low in summer but spring & fall is always high.

No rain in past 24 hours. Overcast and windy now. No signs of wildlife around but the stream and marsh look nice and healthy with lots of water flowing from the snow melt.

Will have to wait until we hopefully get some fall rains so there is some water flowing again in this creek, as this region of PEC has been so dry all summer long.

No rain in past 24 hrs and only 4 mm over past few weeks. Drought conditions here and this creek is drying up considerably. No current present and bullrushes and weeds are taking over. Very murky water. Some frogs, birds and a monarch butterfly seen.

Slightly overcast and moderately windy. No rainfall in past 24 hours but it was raining BLACKFLIES heavily while I was there. Did tests as quickly as I could then took sample back home in bike bag to do the rest of them. Seems they've hatched now that things are warming up after all the rainfall. Some songbirds, robins in the area too.......bring on the swallows and purple martins to eat some of these bugs now ( I ate a few myself while riding ! )
