View all photosTested at Site A (Site 1) today. There were 9 divers there this morning, plus a kayaker. Lots of seagulls, but no other birds in site. Beautiful morning. Thank you to Tais and Ro for sampling to test E. coli for Lake Ontario Waterkeeper as well.
Site #4
Site #4 along Humber Bay Park West beach. Lots of wave action. Major debris from last night’s storm at site #1 and also along shoreline around and between site #2 and #3. Major! Never seen so much wood and plastic at this site. One loon (?), duck, seagull, and a couple shore birds. Also saw resident fox! What a treat!! Did phosphates test = 30. Using AI strips, alkalinity and hardness measured the same as regular strips (120 and 100 respectively), but pH was different (6.8 using AI test strips compared to 7.8 using regular strips).
Tested for phosphates at Site #4. Major storm day before. Lots of debris along shoreline. See separate test for other parameters.
Lovely morning! Fifth time out testing for Lake Ontario Waterkeeper (E. coli samples) and Water Rangers (test strips, conductivity meter) at Humber Bay Park West this season. No rain, a few clouds but warm with sunshine. Both my testing colleagues saw a fox! Red with white tail they said. I turned my head but missed it. Determined to catch a glimpse next time. :) We also came across some art (see lighthouse pic) hidden amongst the trees.
4th #swimdrinkfish testing of E coli plus Water Rangers’ testkit. So lovely out this morning. All sunshine.
Third Lake Ontario Waterkeeper sample to test E. coli. Site #4.
Second Lake Ontario Waterkeeper sample to test E. coli. Site #4.
First Lake Ontario Waterkeeper sample to test E. coli. Site #1.
Last day for Lake Ontario Waterkeeper testing ecoli levels at this site. Water was incedibly calm compared to last year! What a difference. Resident seagulls (about 60) on the shoreline. Two geese. And two cormorant flew by in the distance, low to the water as usual. Water Ranger tests at site 2 by the blue rock, same as last week. Ro biked the samples downtown. Thanks to Ro and Elise for sampling at Humber Bay Park West this year. Additional photos of mouth of Mimico Creek, which flows east of Humber Bay West Park. One egret observed in regular spot. Nearby condos towering over.
