Ice is off the lake now and appears as though it may have been off for several weeks already before we could get here. Was unable to do our first test of 2020 today due to people being around and not able to physical distance properly. Will try another time.
Boat with father & sons heading out from the dock to fish....interested in what I was doing so chatted and gave them a WR card. They left behind an oil slick floating on the surface from starting their motor.....imagine how much gas & oil enter our waterways from all the motorized machines each and every day of the year, including winter with all the snow machines.
Sunn and calm morning. Dragonflies and minnows seen. Family that had been out fishing just coming into dock as we arrived and they were asking about our testing so gave them some info and the W/R card.
No rainfall in past 24 hours. Sunny and very windy with lots of choppiness on the water. Dock was swaying so much I had to sit down to balance.
Partly overcast/ partly sunny with barely any wind. Birds singing but not visible. Father & son launcing their boat to go fishing so they asked about our tests, gave them a card to visit site and showed son the DO test we were doing and he chose the same colour blue as we did. They were hoping to catch some walleye.
Clear skies as the sun sets. Calm water.
