The site has lots of plant growth compared to the previous. The water definitely seems lower. Otherwise no visual changes to colour odour etc. Lots of overgrowth at the site, plants cover much more than previously. Potential hazard when walking to the site
Watch step over wire guard rail. The foliage is dense and can not see the metal lines.
Cloudy day. water looks like it’s returned to normal depth since last visit. Steady but calm flow. Smaller tree has fallen into water.
Water felt warm
Water level low and rest was normal
It was very windy. Could not take flow because of the culvert. The water was pooling on the sides of the culvert slowing the flow rate. Bankful width was not taken because riparian is plastic and collapsing- hard to navigate bank in pile of debris. Salinity was 14. Something to note: the overflow on right bank that runs into the bush to take pressure off the culvert. Salinity was 54 and as entered overflow trench salinity was 139.
It was a sunny day, no wind. The conductivity meter was high temperature for the water. The conductivity meter is hot when it is in the bag. Tested and when turned on the meter it said 14. So we cooled it in the river for a long length of time. Could not get it to go below 7.9.
Sample site right beside culvert-giant. Spruce beetle disease on large tree to the left of sample site. Met a fellow named Bob. Lives next door.He Told us about the riparian being held up by the poly sheeting. It was put up a year ago and now is falling down and not working and the banks are eroding. It is seen from the site.
Dangerous parking- pullin on side by river and KEEP HAZARDS ON!
Snow and ice covered banks. Future knowledge river might get high there are water level markers and lots of surface debris that looks like carried by water - lots of side bank debris. Beware high waters after precipitation or freshet melt
