View all photosRiver very high after recent rains. Filling the forest preserve flood plain across from us. Lowest Cl level by far. No snow for awhile and probably much diluted by high waters.
Cold and dreary w flurries. River still high.
Surprised level went up considerably since last week. No snow or other precipitation last 10 days, maybe heavy rains 10 days ago washed more from the streets into the river.
The water is still pretty high and fast current since heavy rain a few days ago, but down considerably since the rain. No wildlife today. A lot of deer are still on our residential side of the river due to water filled flood plain in the forest preserve on the other side!
The river is now completely ice free, since freeze over on 12/24/2022.
Still a lot of ice on the river, but melting.
River completely iced over except for small patch of turbulent water. Earliest freeze over in almost 30 hrs we have lived here. Usually happens during full moon in January when we can walk on the river! Been very cold for several days.
