Janette Eslick has marked this issue as resolved.
Severn Trent investigated with support of Jo Beckett. 'I met Emery with Emery and Lewis from the Stratford wastewater team. They did comprehensive ammonia tests and lifted the manhole (which is for the foul sewer running perpendicular to the surface water outfall). We are confident that the water quality is good there at the moment. They also showed me the drain map, and I think the reason we see a constant trickle is because the outfall is the culmination of a really large surface water network. Emscote Gardens, Cliffs Hill and the Woodloes. I suspect it's all very flat and shallow, and therefore takes a long time to trickle out. For the future, look out for the telltale greyish film, sanitary rag in the grating etc and that would definitely indicate a misconnection (the current odour is just rotting vegetation).
