Bloody Red Shrimp
How to identify it
- Female bloody red shrimp are up to 1.7 centimetres long
- Males are up to one centimetre long
- Bodies are translucent with bright red to reddish-orange colouring, especially around the head and tail
- They have large, black eyes that extend from the body on short stalks
- The tail is square with two spines at the end
- Usually seen during the day in swarms
Why it's bad
- Reduces food available for native species
- Swarms compete with fish as well
